What is ZeoGreen?

Our ZeoGreen (clinoptilolite) is a natural Australian zeolite mineral from northern New South Wales. It has a very open internal structure giving it a large surface area.

It has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC) - 120 meq/ 100g.
ZeoGreen has selective adsorptive capabilities for certain nutrient cations. In particular it is able to retain ammonium (NH4 +) and potassium (K+) ions. These ions can be readily exchanged when plant roots require them. Thus ZeoGreen reduces leaching of N and K fertiliser

Triple the Cation Exchange

With its high cation exchange capacity (CEC) - of 120 meq/ 100g ZeoGreen has over 31⁄2 times the cation exchange capacity of porous ceramic products, This means 31⁄2 times the ability to hold nutrient for spectacular growth results

Specific Nutrient Retention

ZeoGreen’s CEC is not only much greater but has selective adsorptive capabilities for certain nutrient cations. In particular it is able to retain ammonium (NH4 +) and potassium (K+) ions. The selective exchange for ammonium alone is 104 meq/100g, 3 times that of porous ceramics. These ions can be readily exchanged when plant roots require them.

That’s why ZeoGreen reduces more leaching of Nitrogen and Potassium fertiliser and grows better turf

Water Distribution & Drainage

ZeoGreen’s strong capillary action ensures even water distribution in the profile eliminating dry spots. Its 54% porosity ensures the right balance of air and water holding for turf growth.

ZeoGreen’s excellent hydraulic conductivity drains freely while retaining more moisture for roots.

Durability

ZeoGreen is very hard and extremely durable, standing up to years of wear in the profile without compacting, permanently improving the rootzone. At 300 million years old it is naturally stable and has stood the test of time.

More Effect with Lower Rates

ZeoGreen’s superior characteristics mean it is used in the 5-10% range of sand profile rather than the 20-100% of ceramic products.

ZeoGreen is a natural solution that is a certified organic input. As it is not kiln fired it is a more environmentally friendly choice produced with less energy and greenhouse emissions
