Scuba Greens

This photo is of Cengkareng Golf Club’s 18th green the week before the 2008 Indonesia Open. The green was under water for 3 days, from the 1st to 3rd of February and the event started on the 13th. Practice rounds began on the 9th.

After the water subsided, Course Superintendent applied Protesyn, Floradox Pro and Turgor at double rates. No disease was evident at all. These greens percolate ten times faster than the USGA Greens Committee recommend.

2009, Indonesia Open, New Kuta Bali

This newly opened course on the paradise island of Bali was in outstanding condition for the 2009 Indonesia Open. Superintendent Greg Burgess was enduring issues with salt water on Evergreen Bermuda Greens and was able to maintain perfect plant health by continuously flushing with Calphlex and Pervade, backed up with Trical and Quad K. With their irrigation water at over 5,000 PPM of sodium, and their Percentage Base Saturation of sodium was 51%.

Greg Burgess says ‘without Calphlex and Pervade, the players might have been putting on sand. After each flush the turf came back to full health”.
